OMEGA FIRE (SP 2001 F) ®

APPLICATION METHODS:
Surfaces must be clean and dry before application. Loose or flaking old paints or corrosion must be removed from surface before applying. High pressure water-blasting is as effective as light sandblasting in removing loose or flaking surfaces. As a rule, "A coating is only as good as the surface it covers." Grease, oil, waxy substances, dirt, etc. must be cleaned from surfaces. Old paints can remain if bonded solidly to surfaces. OMEGA FIRE (SP 2001 F) ® can bond to metal, masonry, wood and other porous surface substrates. The application can be sprayed using either a Graco Extreme King/Graco Texspray (or equivalent pumping 4 gal/min) with a 0.29-0.35 tip. The OMEGA FIRE (SP 2001 F) ® may appear dry upon opening and will need to be mechanically stirred for 5 - 7 minutes before it is loose enough to spray. If necessary, the use of a trowel, a 3/4 inch nap roller or brush is possible and may take multiple coats to apply required mils (allow one day dry-time between coats). If spray equipment is used,(ALL FILTERS SHOULD BE REMOVED) For application to hot pipes that are 150C or higher - DO NOT COOL THE SURFACE - apply HOT PIPE COATING ® in one or multiple coats to reduce surface temperature before applying OMEGA FIRE (SP 2001 F) ®.
NOTE - 1 mil = 1 thousandths of an inch 1/1000"
Apply 150 - 200 mils WFT ( 3 - 5 mm ) per coat. A wet mil gauge is recommended. Allow to dry 4 hours with applied heat or otherwise overnight before re-coating. Quick thickness can result in crater cracks that can be repaired easily by adding additional coating to the open crater to fill and seal. If bubbles appear use a wet sponge to smooth out the bubbles and also to smooth out the finished coat for aesthetic appearance. You can apply over cool pipes only if you slowly bring the heat up to dry out the coating ( starting at 30°C up to 100°C over a 30 minute time period ). Sometimes, if applying over a warm to hot surface, the coating can be thinned with water to make it better able to stick to the surface as a primer coat ONLY.

This is a water-based coating. If applied to an exterior substrate, top coat with SUPERTHERM ® for weathering and never apply if raining or chance of rain the day of application. IMPORTANT: ALL filters must be removed to prevent sifting of ceramic particles.

COVERAGE:
Metal, wood, concrete, etc. is coated according to fire protection desired.

1 Hour Fire Resistance Rating on structural steel applications apply OMEGA FIRE (SP 2001 F) ® at 5 sq.ft. \ 0.4645152 square meters per gallon to give 320 mils \ 8.13 mm WFT = 261 mils \ 6.63 mm DFT applied in 2 - 3 coats

2 Hour Fire Resistance Rating on structural steel applications apply OMEGA FIRE (SP 2001 F) ® at 3 sq.ft. \ 0.27870912 square meters per gallon to give 535 mils \ 13.59 mm WFT = 435 mils \ 11.05 mm DFT applied in 3 - 4 coats

CURE TIME:
1) Four hours to touch.
2) Recoat window is twelve hours at 70°F.
3) Full cures in twenty-one days.

CLEAN-UP OF EQUIPMENT:
1) After completion, spray system should be cleaned with soap and water.
2) After completion, brushes can be cleaned with soap and water, stored and reused.

IMPORTANT:
Do not take internally. Avoid contact with eyes. If solution does come in contact with eyes, flush immediately with water and contact a physician for medical attention. Avoid prolonged contact with skin or breathing of spray mist. For quickest removal from skin, wash with water before drying. KEEP OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN.
