SUNSHIELD 2000 ®

Polbay Contracting was referred by Vancouver Shipyards who just finished doing two new tugs. The customer had requested thermal control to prevent condensation from developing on the inside surface.

In this particular application, the customer chose SUNSHIELD 2000 ® ( Vancouver Shipyards prefers the extra effective durability, fire and thermal protection provided by SUPER THERM ® ) and did their own application. They applied the first coat of SUNSHIELD 2000 ® with a brush and sprayed on the second coat.

Various (shaded) areas can be seen where the SUNSHIELD 2000 ® has not been applied as per specification. The customer has been advised to touch up these areas using the cross hatch method to ensure proper and complete effective coverage, protection and performance.

The Engine Compartment was also coated with SUNSHIELD 2000 ® to control condensation by controlling effective thermal transfer ( ie. repelling heat = no dew point being reached ).
